Bridging STEM education gap with gender-centric approach

Universe Simplified is an organization that focuses on providing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education to 6th to 9th grade school students in the villages of the Kalyan-Murbad area, near Mumbai.

Universe Simplified Founder & CEO Henna Khan says, “Gender-centric approach cannot be done in isolation with girl students. If you want to improve the outcomes for girls you have to work with boys.”

About 50 percent of Universe Simplified’s students are girls and 20 percent come from tribal communities. The story for girl students is often one of drop-outs due to financial constraints or early marriage. By providing equal access to STEM education, Universe Simplified is preparing students for critical thinking and problem-solving.

Universe Simplified is supported under the Wipro Education Fellowship program. To learn more about their work, please visit: https://universesimplified.org/
