Community Ecology Program​

Under the community ecology initiative, we focus on creating an ecological balance in our proximate communities by taking up projects that have direct tangible benefits to the disadvantaged communities as well as those that have a positive impact on the environment.

Thematic Areas:

Water

Water Conservation & RWH, Watershed Program, Rejuvenation of Common Water Bodies: Canals, Lakes, etc. and WASH Intervention in Low-Income Settlements.

Waste and Pollution Management
Solid Waste Management in Low Income Settlements and Access to Social Benefits for Waste Pickers.

Ecosystem Services
Food and Agroforestry, Afforestation and Biodiversity.

Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation
Flood Risk Management, Urban Forests, Coastal Conservation and Landscape Restoration.

The 2022 Community Ecology grants are open for the following locations – Amalner (Jalgaon, Maharashtra), Bangalore, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi and NCR, Haridwar, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Maheshwaram (South Hyderabad), Mumbai, Pune, Tumakuru (Karnataka) and Vizag.

Selection Criteria

To effectively execute projects in our chosen areas of work, we aim to partner with credible organizations that comply broadly with the below criteria:

  •   Should be a registered non-profit organization, meeting statutory obligations such as 80G, 12A along with a minimum of 3 years of work experience in the field of ecology
  • Should have domain expertise on ecology with a proven track record
  • Should comprise a strong committed team with ample field experience
  • Should be familiar with the local context with on-ground operations and a strong community presence.  The 2022 Community Ecology grants are open for the following locations – Amalner (Jalgaon, Maharashtra), Bangalore, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi and NCR, Haridwar, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Maheshwaram (South Hyderabad), Mumbai, Pune, Tumakuru (Karnataka) and Vizag.
  • The organization and their work are expected to be proximate to Wipro locations to enable easy volunteering engagement
  • Should show a willingness to engage with relevant stakeholders to benefit the impacted community.

Selection Process

The selection process involves the following steps:

  • The interested organization submits an online application
  • Shortlisted organizations are contacted to provide a detailed proposal
  • Wipro Foundation team gets in touch with the organization for further clarification and/or field visits
  • A detailed proposal is presented to the review committee after due diligence 
  • The decision on the grant is conveyed to the applicant via email.

Please note that the review and decision-making process involves multiple stages/back and forth communication that could take a month or more.

We do not consider applications related to research and study.

Yes. If the organization is applying for multiple locations, please make a separate application for each location.

The applicant is expected to put the budget as per the scope of the proposed project(s).

Yes. You can apply if your organization is planning to expand an existing community ecology project, provided the locations match our priority list.

We do not fund projects initiated in an individual capacity. We partner with credible grassroots NGOs only.
