Gubbacchi

Gubbachi was formed with the sole purpose of working for education of underserved children. The data (or the lack of it) is telling. 84 million children are Out of School in India alone (Census 2011). Further, it is estimated that there are 454 million migrants as per Census 2011. This indicates problems of access and retention in education of migrant children. Most children enrolled in government schools in peri-urban areas of Bengaluru are migrants. Migrant children have to overcome learning gaps due to settling time, language and cultural alienation, inflexible curriculum and school schedules, safety concerns by parents for their wards in a foreign environment.

i-Saksham Education and Learning Foundation

i-Saksham Education and Learning Foundation has the mission of ‘building community edu-leaders to enrich education experiences of underserved children for continued success.’ The idea of i-Saksham has its origin in the experience of its founders as Prime Minister Rural Development Fellows working in two left wing extremism affected district of Bihar, Jamui and Munger for 3 years. We witnessed that while the discourse is around existing educational inequity at school education level, not much discourse was around what it leads to in terms of inequity in life chances for youth of these areas. Our experience also taught us that such resource-constrained areas have one common resource in abundance and that is the power of youth to affect the existing systemic challenges positively.

We work to support the education of marginalized children through democratic library centric interventions that raise readers, support literacy, and enhance life skills; empowering them to discover their voice, realize their potential, and build their agency.

Inqui-lab Foundation

Students need a space to explore and develop interests, think originally, learn about and contribute to the real world because future-readiness (i.e. creativity, innovation, and problem solving) is currently not prioritized by schools but is essential for their success as thriving individuals and meaningful contributors to their surroundings.
With a vision to nurture problem-solving capacity in the next generation (youth aged 12-19 years), our mission is to design platforms and interventions that build this capacity in children.

Jammu and Kashmir Association of Social Workers (JKASW)

The organization envisages the comprehensive development of children as a paramount factor for the development of society. This necessitates a focus on the education, protection, and positive participation of children. However, given the dynamic nature of child rights, this entails a context-based approach and enhanced focus on the rights of children.

Karunodaya

Karunodaya has worked on education since 2017. It has been working in Gaya since 2019. Before launching the Literacy & Library Program in government schools, we were focussing on enhancing students’ literacy skills through TLM and activity-based learning. We also collaborated with the District Institute of Education & Training (DIET), and Gaya-based students on practical aspects of teaching, TLMs, leadership, and presentation skills.
In September 2021, we launched a Literacy & Library Program in 14 Government Schools. As part of the same, we focus on creating a library as a practical space to teach language effectively. It is also a space where students feel invested and motivated towards reading. The primary aim of this program is to increase students’ literacy levels through libraries.

Khelghar

Education for the deprived’ is the motto of Khelghar. About 200 underprivileged children are benefited by this project. Most of the parents in Laxminagar are very poor construction workers and both must go out for work for the whole day. Children do not get a loving and caring atmosphere for learning. Hence, many children either drop out of school or are very irregular.
